From the Wichita Pachyderm Club: A forum of candidates for Wichita school board. Recorded June 16, 2017.

The eight candidates in attendance were Betty Arnold (I) and Ben Blankley of BOD District 1; Julie Hedrick and Trish Hileman of BOE District 2; Mike Rodee (I) of BOE District 5; and Walt Chappell, Shirley Jefferson, and Ron Rosales of BOE District 6.

All of these candidates plus two candidates who could not attend today's forum will move forward to the November 7, 2017, General Election.

In school district elections, all qualified voters district-wide in the Wichita Public School District have the opportunity to vote for the candidate of their choice from all four Board of Education Districts in the November election.

Debate: The National Debt

This is an audio recording of a debate on the theme “Should the U.S. implement austerity measures due to the national debt?” The event was sponsored by Up To Usa nationwide campus competition in which students create thought-provoking, fun campaigns to raise awareness about a critical issue affecting their future — the long-term national debt. This event took place at Emporia State University on February 15, 2016. Participants were Bob Weeks of Voice for Liberty at wichitaliberty.org and Professor Max Skidmore of University of Missouri, Kansas City. Michael Smith of ESU was the faculty coordinator, and Rob Catlett of ESU was the moderator.
